My oldest son was tardy for school today. We had to wait until 8 a.m. for Dollar General to open so we could buy sunglasses for today's "Right to Read to Week" themed outfit.
Today's theme was based on John's Denver's song "Sunshine on My Shoulders." The suggestion was to wear a yellow shirt and sunglasses. We compromised on the shirt - we found an orange t-shirt with a yellow sun on it. But If a teacher says "You can wear sunglasses tomorrow," Jon hears it as Law rather than Gospel.
So, in the spirit of the week, I offer these suggestions for themed outfits for future "Spirit Weeks."
SPIRIT WEEK FOR STRESSED-OUT PARENTS
Monday - Pants Day. Wear pants to school. Please.
Tuesday - Color Day. Wear something red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, grey, black, brown, white or pink.
Wednesday - Clean Clothes Day. Wear clean clothes. Or not. Your choice.
Thursday - Show and Tell Day. Bring something you find in your minivan on the way to the bus stop.
Friday - Pajama Day. Don't even have to get the kids dressed. Plus Early Dismissal. Just because.
If you want to reach out to offer encouragement to this Frazzled Father, please give me a call or chat online. I will be up late tonight...making an "Origami Yoda" costume for tomorrow....
